"A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step" Lao-Tzu

Pedometers are extremely popular right now and there are many wellness programs promoting their use. The vast majority of companies have a walking program and use pedometers. The popularity of these little gadgets has helped boost program participation, deepened the level of employee engagement and served to increase motivation and compliance in wellness programs resulting in improved outcomes.
To call them pedometers today may be somewhat inaccurate as many can now track steps taken, distance traveled, calories burned, stairs climbed, active minutes throughout the day and sleep patterns at night. In addition some have an alarm feature that will wake you with a silent vibration.
They come in all shapes and sizes. You can wear them on your wrist, on your shoe, or at your waistband. Technology has improved so much that you now have numerous choices when shopping for a pedometer. You don't have to go with the flimsy plastic version given away at a health fair.
More than anything a pedometer is an awareness tool. If you are wearing one, you will consciously make a greater effort to get more steps and move more. When you first start wearing your pedometer you may even be shocked at how active or inactive you are during the course of a day.
Pedometers are easy to use and can be a great tool to increase motivation and monitor progress. Get a pedometer and get moving!
