Grilled Rib-Eye Steaks with Whisky BBQ sauce
Serves 4
Ingredients
- 4 Blue Ribbon rib-eye steaks, 20 ounces each
- Olive oil, for brushing
- Awake-a-Steak® seasoning, to taste
Whisky BBQ Sauce
- 2 Tablespoons olive oil
- 1 Cup onion, diced fine
- 1 Tablespoon garlic, chopped fine
- ¼ Cup whisky
- ½ Cup maple syrup
- 1 Tablespoon apple cider vinegar
- 2 Teaspoons Dijon mustard
- 1 Teaspoon Chipotle chili powder
- ½ Teaspoon fresh cracked black pepper
- Make the BBQ sauce by heating a medium size sauce pot over medium heat for one minute. Add the oil and onions and sauté for 1 minute. Add the garlic and sauté for 30 seconds. Do not let the garlic to brown. Remove the pot from the heat and add the whisky. Let the whisky steam for 15 seconds before returning to the burner (to prevent flaming). Simmer until the whisky has almost completely evaporated. Add the remaining ingredients and simmer on low for 2-5 minutes.
- Heat your grill on high for 10 minutes. Brush the steaks with the oil and season to taste with the Awake-a-Steak® seasoning. Place steaks on hot grill for 2 minutes per side to establish grill marks. Lower the heat to medium and grill steaks, turning every 2 minutes until done to your liking. Remove the steaks from the grill and serve with the BBQ sauce.
