Sumi Tohan, RDN, LDN, specializes in bariatric nutrition and diabetes education. She received her undergraduate Nutritional Sciences degree from the Pennsylvania State University, and completed her dietetic internship with the Virginia Department of Health with a concentration in public health.
Sumi is currently pursuing her Masters of Science from Columbia University in Diabetes Education and Management. She holds a Certificate of Training in Adult Weight Management, Levels 1 and 2, through the Commission on Dietetic Registration. Her diverse work experience has strengthened her skills in meal planning, sports nutrition, plant-based nutrition, product and recipe development, and cooking demonstrations.
Sumi has appeared on the local news on several occasions to disseminate complex nutrition information into easy to understand concepts. She was most recently selected to represent the Maryland Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics Board of Directors as a state media spokesperson which allows her to empower others with the knowledge necessary to make favorable food choices and improve the health and well-being of our community.
